 Ms. Skillman’s practice areas include probate, guardianship and civil appeals. Licensed to practice law in Texas, Tennessee and Kentucky, Ms. Skillman helps guide families and loved ones through the probate and guardianship process. Ms. Skillman began her legal career as a staff attorney, and then law clerk, to the Honorable William E. McAnulty, Jr., of the Kentucky Supreme Court. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable John D. Minton, Jr., now-Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court. In these positions, she worked closely with judges and court personnel to prepare for oral arguments, conducted extensive legal research and analysis in both civil and criminal appeals and assisted in drafting judicial opinions. Before joining the Dean Law Firm, Ms. Skillman was an associate at the Nashville, Tennessee law firm of Branstetter, Stranch & Jennings, PLLC, where she litigated cases in both state and federal court in a number of different practice areas, including public utility, employment, estates, trusts and conservatorships (guardianships). She handled cases from the complaint stage through appeal. Ms. Skillman enjoys giving back to her community. She is a member of the Special Olympics Committee of the Houston Bar Association, a Special Olympics volunteer and a volunteer lawyer with the Houston Volunteer Lawyers, a service of the Houston Bar Association.
When not at work, Ms. Skillman can be found cheering on her family at triathlons, cross country meets and lacrosse games or walking her dog.
